Audi SOS System B105413

Audi SOS System B105413

“Emergency call function fault. Function partially available. Please contact workshop.”

Mr T wasn’t expecting a message like this when he started his Audi A1, but there it was on the dashboard.

The SOS indicator on the roof console had turned red, leaving no doubt that one of the vehicle’s built-in safety features had failed.

Audi SOS System B105413

An emergency call system warning is never something to push aside and deal with later.

It’s the system that automatically places an emergency call if your vehicle is involved in a serious collision. Once it fails, a layer of protection you’ve most likely never thought about is suddenly gone.

Not prepared to leave it, Mr T brought his Audi A1 to South Coast Garage, Eastbourne, for a thorough assessment.

Here, you’ll find out how our Audi specialists investigated the fault, what our testing confirmed, and how the Audi SOS system was fully restored.

How South Coast Garage Assessed the Audi SOS System B105413 Warning

When Mr T arrived at South Coast Garage, Eastbourne, our Audi specialists began by asking him to describe what he’d noticed.

At our garage, listening to a customer’s account before any checks begin is fundamental to every investigation, helping us direct the process accurately from the very start. Mr T explained that a warning message had appeared on the dashboard and that the SOS indicator on the roof console had turned red.

There had been no other faults with the vehicle, no recent work, and nothing that might explain why the warning had appeared.

With that detail taken on board, our Audi technicians moved on to the first round of checks.

Our opening checks included:

  • A thorough visual inspection for any clear signs of damage.
  • A system scan to capture any stored or active fault codes.

The visual inspection didn’t flag anything unusual. All components appeared to be in good order, with no visible damage or disturbance. Once the visual check was done, our specialists progressed to the system scan.

The system scan was performed using Audi manufacturer-level technology, with live data from the relevant control modules assessed alongside the scan results.

The scan returned one fault code:

  • B105413, GPS Antenna, open circuit, with an active/static status.

What Is Behind the B105413 Fault Code?

This code appears when the telematics control module in the vehicle registers an open circuit affecting the GPS antenna circuit. It’s the GPS antenna that supplies the location data Audi’s emergency call system needs to work out the vehicle’s position if an automatic emergency call is ever placed.

Where a valid GPS signal can’t be received, the SOS function may be limited to partial availability, with a warning message displayed on the dashboard.

This indicated to our team that the vehicle’s telematics control module had detected an open circuit in the GPS antenna signal path.

A fault code on its own, however, doesn’t explain what went wrong.

The B105413 GPS antenna fault could have been caused by the antenna itself, a connector issue, water ingress, or the coaxial cabling. Our team needed to take the investigation further to identify the true cause of the Audi SOS fault and ensure it was fixed correctly.

What Led to the B105413 GPS Antenna Fault?

With the B105413 GPS antenna fault now confirmed, our next task was to work out exactly what had caused it.

A fault code highlights the affected area, but identifying the root cause requires structured testing and careful investigation.

Our Audi technicians started by consulting the manufacturer’s technical information service.

As your local independent Audi specialist, our team has access to the same technology and technical data as the main dealerships. This includes wiring diagrams, current flow diagrams, component specifications, and any technical service bulletins linked to the Audi SOS system B105413 fault.

From this research, our Audi specialists drew up a targeted test plan:

  • Carry out continuity and correct signal path testing on the coaxial cable and wiring from the GPS antenna to the emergency call module.
  • Inspect all connections along the circuit for signs of poor contact or corrosion.
  • Remove the roof antenna module and check it for any evidence of water intrusion or physical damage.

The opening round of testing focused on continuity and resistance testing of the wiring between the emergency call module and the roof-mounted GPS antenna. All readings came back within specification, confirming that the cabling and connectors were not responsible.

With that ruled out, our Audi experts turned their attention to the roof antenna module.

After removing the Audi A1’s shark fin antenna and conducting a close inspection, they discovered that the GPS antenna element within the module had failed, producing the open circuit recorded by the B105413 fault code.

This internal component failure triggered the emergency call system warning.

The GPS antenna element could no longer supply a valid GPS signal to the telematics module, which explained why the SOS function had been left only partially available.

How South Coast Garage Carried Out the Audi B105413 Fault Fix

Once the root cause had been confirmed, our Audi technicians contacted Mr T to explain what the investigation had uncovered. We walked him through how the GPS antenna within the roof-mounted shark fin module had failed internally, and why this had triggered the Audi SOS system B105413 warning.

At South Coast Garage, Eastbourne, no repair work is carried out until you have a clear understanding of the issue and have given your approval. Mr T was happy with the findings and gave our Audi specialists the go-ahead to proceed.

Our team then completed the Audi B105413 fault fix:

  • The failed roof antenna module was removed carefully, and the mounting area was checked for any signs of water damage or deterioration that could affect the replacement component.
  • A new Audi-approved roof antenna module was fitted, restoring the GPS antenna circuit used by the emergency call system.
  • All electrical connections were inspected to confirm they were secure and correctly seated.

With the replacement module in position, the Audi emergency call system repair was ready for final verification.

Confirming That the Audi SOS Fault Fix Was Complete

Once the replacement was fitted, our Audi technicians performed a series of checks to confirm the Audi SOS fault fix was successful and that the emergency call system was operating as intended by the manufacturer.

Our team carried out the following verification steps:

  • Checked that the SOS indicator in the roof console had returned to its normal state.
  • Cleared the stored B105413 fault code using manufacturer-level equipment.
  • Verified that the emergency call function reported normal operation with no active warnings.
  • Ran a full system scan to confirm that no additional fault codes had been stored.

All checks produced the expected results. The GPS antenna circuit tested correctly, the emergency call system was fully restored, and no further faults were found.

By applying a structured, evidence-led approach, our team identified the precise cause of the Audi SOS system B105413 fault without any unnecessary part replacements.

From initial assessment through to repair, the entire fault was resolved in a single visit.

With all checks confirmed, our Audi specialists contacted Mr T to let him know that his Audi A1 was ready for collection.

Mr T was happy with the accuracy of the repair, the open communication he’d received at every stage, and the quick turnaround, all while receiving better value than a main dealer.
